True. All other original equipment date codes (fenders, hood, engine) indicate that the car was built "sometime after".

As they have written and offered - if you can provide the cars VIN someone can look and figure out what other cars entered into the system on or near the same day as your car, were assigned. This will not be the build date but a date the operated guess it might be built as discussed in many other threads.

What the Mustang Production Guide printed (collected in their survey) years ago

5F100897  13C
5F101069  18C (Note that this one example was followed by 5F101170 16C  & 5F101176  16C)

Looked but don't have any cars in the 5F101xxx range in my picture collection. Have a couple of other long lists of door tag info but its more west coast centered so not as likely it will have much - will look to see where it is if I can find them

Interesting - Doesn't get the OP allot closer but there are a couple (each side of his VIN) that are closer than the much earlier publication as one would expect. 20G and 21G

Sure looks like they were all over the place but I suspect that the operator(s) may have entered  the orders mistakenly typed "C" on a group of orders when they meant to hit the "G" over that s early period since (unlike other production periods) the dates  don't progress in relationship to the VIN's.  Never noticed this or dealt with production   dating of the very early cars and can understand why DEWilson would ask this quesion.

ok so i took a look at sheet metal date codes   Hood   2 20 c3,RF APRON  2 14 2D , LH COWL SIDE 1 23 D3 , RH COWL SIDE 1 20 D3 , TRUNK LID 2 5 2C , BUMPER MOUNT REINFORCEMENT 1 29 B2 & 1 30 B2 ,RADIATOR SUPPORT 1 29 C2 Ok thing looking like a early build then found LOWER FRONT CROSS MEMBER  8 27 3C  so is this a miss stamping?  thought july 31 was the last build date of the early 65 car or 64 1/2 some call them..    SO THAT PUSH THE BULD PASSED THE 20G 21G  build date? the car is gen model     wish the last owner had not lost the door tag !

Dearborn unit number 101003 would have most likely been built sometime in the first 2 weeks of production, March 9th-23rd

Mine is 3219, and I was able to find VINs on either side at early mustangs that put it on Mar 23, so I would guess first 7-10 days.
