1969 Mustang 390 Mach 1 - Power Steering with AC question

Good Evening Fellow Mustang Fanatics,

I recently purchased a 1969 Mustang 390 Mach 1 (9R02S187894) that had been in storage for the past 30 years.  The prior owner had completely removed the factory AC and Power Steering.  I am now attempting to gather all the factory correct parts to put both systems back on in correct concours fashion.

I’m starting with the power steering.  Can anyone provide pictures showing me the proper configuration of the power steering pump brackets, provide the specifics on the attaching hardware and any factory markings that would be present?  All the reference photos I can find are for cars without AC.  Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.  Once I have the pump installed, then I’ll turn to the rest of the missing power steering components.  Thank you!

Since the whole assembly is a bit complicated and all assembled will hide allot of parts and detail I suggest that you at least start with the exploded views that are available in the MPC's. They can be a bit generic but will provide base numbers for the parts and a good idea of the relationship of the parts. Other threads can help with the many different finishes but would worry about paint marks as a secondary issue later. There is a general paint mark primer in the Library if you haven't seen that already

Here's a start. This is a link to the 75 edition of Ford Car Parts (aka MPC) in Adobe .pdf format. It has 45 files and is about 430mb in size. I recommend you download the files into two directories, one for illustrations, the other for text.

Some additional sources (Scott's great site)  that should help in specific areas. Some off the info from the 428 will be a match while some will be different but the MPC will clarify much of that.

Going to have to build all of this (knowledge and locating the parts) bit by bit

As far as the PS is concerned the only difference between a A/C and non A/C equipped car is the PS pump pulley. The A/C pulley does not have any offset and is basically flat. The good news is it is more common then the non A/C one IMO . The non A/C pulley has a offset towards the front or radiator support. It is uncommon. Of course the crank and waterpump pulley are different for A/C. The good news is the A/C pulleys are typically more common then the non A/C versions for the same BB application. Jeff pointed you in the correct direction to the informative info at the 428cobrajet .org links . Unfortunately some of the A/C clutch ,fixed idler pulley and adjustable idler pulley are not marked in 69 so you can't use all of the good info to track them down. The good news is the adjustable idler puller is the same BB or SB. Unfortunately the lower no adjustable idler pulley is not marked.The same goes for the A/C clutch. The base electro magnet is marked but the clutch portion is with a ink stamp or taped ID sticker if at all which are typically missing on used units. The base fits more then one clutch. You have to ID the proper clutch typically by the diameter. Best of luck with your search.
