Deluxe Marti reports include both the body style code and a description of that code as shown in the report attached below. What kind of report do you have? A deluxe or elite report normally includes more than just the code.

Exactly like yours.
Where your door tag body code is 76B mine is 63D.
Gotta be engine related.

The 250 E engine has a higher compression ratio which is the main difference. How was that achieved? Different pistons? The MPC would say. I do not know why the difference in engine specs would make any difference in the body but there must be something different about the body itself to warrant a different body code.

Don't think it was a body "need" since the deluxe interior or the bench seat didn't require changes to the body. Its was for some other reason in the company we just haven't found I would think at this point. Any minor need for different holes or a bracket could have just been identified on the buck tag like was done for other models and cars.

Here is a picture of the bucktag minus the full vin#    As you can see,  the tag was also primered and painted with silver jade paint as well.

We've seen the body color going that far forward and some times not at NJ in 69 - Covered over by engine compartment black so it would not show in the final finish

Easy to see from the buck tag not allot of anything extra or different done to the uni-body that was not communicated in the information/coding at the top

I am at a loss with the D.   I will eventually uncover something.

Everyone likes a good mystery.  You mentioned early on that the ' 63D ' is mentioned in conjunction with some engine spec's ?  Would you elaborate as to what those are ?  Brian

63D I believe is more related to the "package" than just the engine like the 63c was related to an interior, body type and exterior package

Will leave the explaining of the engine to the owner

ruger thanks for reposting the TSB Article- had forgotten I had posted that back when you first joined here

Thanks, as far as the engine goes it states a higher compression is used. Also a certain jet in the carb. A 1" larger torque converter also.  I just can't find the exact reason for the D being used.
