Tai light housing finish
« on: September 18, 2009, 05:14:16 PM »
What is the correct finish for a 67-68 tailight housing (the part you see when you look in the trunk)? It appears to be a zinc coating. Whatever the coating is can it be duplicated at home?  Thanks,

The outer most part is zinc dichromate (gold look), the inner part is zinc (silver).

I had mine replated but it looks shinier than it is suppose to.

67 is all clear zinc, 68 has the clear zinc and zinc dichromate finish.

You can use some of the rattle cans  Bright galvanized inside and Tank coating on the exterior but plating really isn't that expensive yet as long as you group all your needs to do at the same time or go together with a couple of friends to share the  cost
