The attachment type depends on the transmission. An automatic uses a stud, two external tooth lock washers and a nut, all 7/16 inch. A manual transmission uses a bolt and one external tooth lock washer, again 7/16 inch. All components are shown as clear zinc (-S8). Its main function is battery ground, the alternator ground is along for the ride. The stud application is poorly documented, and may be part of a running change.
