Turn Signal Hood Paint Detail
« on: July 01, 2019, 04:25:21 PM »
Approaching painting time... finally!

Looking for some input on the turn signal hood painting detail.

Found many pics in this thread: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=5082.msg85848#msg85848 and by trolling the unrestored pages.

Correct me as needed:
1.) Both hood and louvers were painted in gray sealer before body color.
2.) Turn Signal Louvers were painted body color after being installed on the hood.
3.) Installed Turn Signal Louvers were held by the “closer to the fender/closer to firewall” nut and the “closer to hood center/closer to front hood edge” nut. All other nuts installed later and not body color.
4.) All studs attached at time of painting.

Couldn’t find a good Dearborn example. Was this known to vary plant to plant?
