Application is 1970 Mach, built October 1969

Due to sheet metal work, I need to re-locate my louver hinge and latch holes. My plan was to temporarily reinstall the rear glass, set the louvers in place and then mark and drill the four sets of holes. However, I broke my rear glass. So, if there's another way to locate the holes for the louver hinges, please help me out. I'm years (plural) away from being ready to drive the car.... right now I'm just trying to get the body work completed and I'd much prefer to drill holes prior to paint.

If use of the rear glass is the only way to do this, then could folks comment on a recommended source for tinted glass? This will be a driver and in this case that means (to me) that while I'll do my best to use original, dated parts wherever possible, original glass is not a requirement.
I do, however, care about the thickness of the glass because I've run into trouble with other cars wherein the glass was substantially thinner than the gaskets were design to accept. I haven't bought or installed glass in years, though, so perhaps things have changed and this is no longer a problem?

For example, I noticed this seller reasonably close to where I live selling several different types of glass. Anyone have experience with this source?

Where are you located? I have rear glass out of a 70 Mach 1 setting in my shed. Need to move it out. $150. Don't know about shipping these are hard to ship. I live in western NY just west of Rochester.

I have also just placed the louvers on the rear on the rear window and used the upper arms as a template. Not sure if I would trust measurements from another car or body for this. The install the nutserts

The lower retainer brackets would be marked at the same time so that they line up (left and right) with the bottom holes and then extended out to hold the tension. Having a picture of the distance between the window opening and or trim at the bottom will help locate them and in turn the mounting holes from that angle

That sure doesn't look like factory type tinting. You will find vendors selling glass but most are simply resellers from many three different possible sources. You would ahve to ask where the glass comes fro. You will find experiences with the major providers/makers in other threads here on the site

I have no idea what you're trying to say with "install if I must". :-)

Jeff, thanks, I too noticed the tinting is different. The same seller offers the stock appearance green tint as well. What I'm really trying to ascertain is glass thickness.... if anyone still makes glass for these cars in a similar-to-stock thickness so that I don't have problems with the gaskets later on. Actually, now that I think about this, perhaps I don't understand the 69/70s like I do the 67/68s which use the gaskets.... perhaps for 69/70 the glass thickness doesn't matter?

Cleveland kid... thanks.... I actually grew up in UpState NY...... miss it I do. I'm too far from there now, to take advantage of your offer. Thanks though!

I think I'll have to find a piece of glass I could borrow.... I really hate to store glass when I won't need it for a long time.

WINDSHIELDS: Laminalted safety glass, Extremely fragile off the car (agree, would not be a good idea to store a long time)
BACKGLASS & SIDEGLASS: Tempered Safety Glass, Very durable off the car, unlikely to break in routine handling. I see no issue with storing this kind of glass in most garage or basement conditions.

I've had a spare stored for over ten years without a problem. DO NOT STORE FLAT, store glass vertical. This smart.
