Help ID upper control arms
« on: June 27, 2019, 08:19:44 PM »
Are there any identification markings/part numbers on original 67 Mustang upper control arms? Thanks in advance.

Yes I have seen the article which is very helpful but I don’t see the info I was looking for. I am sure as the document grows it will have more information. My lower arms and spring perches are original, but my upper arms are questionable.

The upper arms are dated on the nose of the UCA by the ball joint. Not real well and sometimes missing one or both characters!
Later in 68 the metal was clipped in the outer ball joint area to clear wider rims.
In plan view original UCA have a unique shape, different from most repops. The easiest to see is the sharp point the outer metal outline has at the spring pivot.
Most of  the repops are softer or almost rounded here.

Perhaps share a pic?

Check these out Bill, I did see some faint numbers stamped as you described, please let me what you think. By the way, the previous owner painted all suspension components and bottom of the car in black lacquer.

Sometimes there is a C6 stamped on the under side in the wide area towards the rear of the arm. The clipped 68 early 69 version sometimes has a C8 stamped there. Those are definitely original Ford arms though.

Usually you can lay a straight edge from the middle "peak" to either the front peak or the rear peak and the arm will closely follow the ruler.
From pics I've seen of repops they aren't near as straight as original Ford.
Those look like they are original and in good condition.
