Flexible Metal Under-dash wiring retainer
« on: June 01, 2019, 01:54:49 PM »
I have had several 64 1/2 cars with the left hand cardboard windshield wiper pivot cover, and none have had the retainer holding up the under-dash wiring as shown in the assembly manual secured by one of the vent housing nuts.  I find no evidence that there ever was one.  The cars are all June or July 64 planned build dates, some K code Dearborn one D code SJ.  Anyone know if this is typical or should these cars have had the retainer.

TIA,

The retainer I'm referring to is #10.

The information I find is from Ford Car Parts (aka MPC), 1975 ed, Section 144 page 11, that states clip 377904-S100 was used to 9/29/64 to top cowl inner panel with nut 34053-S8 and clip 370805-S100 for wiring and shield to cowl top with screw 376378-S010 was used after that date. No implementation date prior to 9/29/64 was give. The nut, 34053-S8, apparently was used for the water shield only after 9/29/64.
I need to do a bit more research.

Looked through my pictures and as one would expect this is a location that is difficult to get pictures of so can't help. But did want you to know that I did try.

Did find another wire loom clip further up/higher behind dash that appears to have changed during the first year of production. But that's a different subject

Thanks for looking.  I've put it back together the way it was.  It seems that the air vent cable shield keeps these wires up and out of the way.

My July 64 vert had this in that position.
Not looking forward to getting it back up there.
