Here are the two extensions taken off my 65. They are obviously different. One isC4ZB-6528073-A and one is C5ZB-6528072-B.
Is it reasonable that the car was manufactured like this?

The red one has a grove for a rubber seal, the gray one does not. The gray one was an early 64-65 design, I don't know the transition date. Your plant and scheduled build dates may help.

Based on the Feb 10th sch date in your signature, it appears the C5ZB is not original.
