Hello all, finally getting to work on my driveshaft. Was hoping to get some help decoding my "stencil" markings. The stripes came out fairly clear. I see writing that looks to end in "5W"...Im going easy on the rust dissolvers; I dont want it to eat off what paint i have.. Thanks

to my knowledge there is no known 'decode' to those markings. they were applied at the tubing manufacturer possibly to indicate the thickness & diameter of the tube prior to cutting to length before assembly into a finished shaft. not all finished shafts have the markings. and they are not always in the same relationship front to rear.

Welcome, and hang on for a wild ride.
Those markings are the stock number of the tube applied by the tubing's manufacturer. It looks like there were applied every 8 to 10 feet, from which a 49 to 52 inch piece was cut. That left some section without the marking. They have no "Ford" meaning.

The code typically found on a 65 V8 automatic application when a code is present (most didn't in my experience)  would be  "19078" followed by a dash "-" and a code identifying the year and a letter which you already have

Font is an older version of the stencil font

Believe you will find the stripe you found to have been white originally

In the future it would also help to know about (since we only have projected build dates to work from for 65) when the car may have been built and details change even between months
