Slowly going through the running changes related to just the Shelby components of these cars
http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=19062.msg120306#msg120306There is a separate thread that focuses on the Ford running changes for 66 also for those details.
So thought it would help if we looked at the running changes related to the side scoop installation for 66 GT350's. Because of how these cars were titled this would include the carry over 66's also but that should not rally confuse things as long as we keep it in mind. As always with early Shelby production we must remember that cars were not always finished in sequential order so the change over points may never be exact but we can consider an appropriate range to help owners and builders choose the most likely option if they don't have original parts to guide them.
#1 - Color of the ducts. In the early cars Shelby used duct ends molded of a whitish material then changed, fairly early, to a black molded plastic duct ends. Currently I've found the change took place some where between approx 6S050 and 6S280.
Then to the blackish finish

#2 - Inside or outside attachment. On the majority of the cars the dusts were attached so that the mounting lips were located on the interior of the car as shown in the pictures below.

On late cars the ducts were inserted from the outside through the holes then attached to the body as shown in the pictures below. You will also notice that the rivets are now facing the other direction, inward, since the installer was now on the outside of the car rather that inside like the earlier installation
Appears that they used ALLOT more rivets installing them from this direction.
Current have found #2 change took place somewhere between approx 6S2020 and 6S2070
