1967 Data Plate Date Code For July
« on: May 03, 2019, 05:38:38 PM »
I recently went to C.J. Pony Parts VIN decoder to put in the information from my driver's door data plate, and was surprised while using their decoder, that there seems to be two sets of abrevations for the month the car was built.

My 67 is a late July built San Jose car, and the door tag indicates the month for July with a "U". I fully expected to see a "G" designated for July. C.J.'s decoder, used the whole alaphabet with the exception of "O",and designated the month as either First Year, or Second Year on the pull down menu.

Anyone have any knowledge as to why Ford used two sets of month codes for the same year? Where San Jose assembly line cars "Second Year" coded?

Thanks, Denny

21 U is correct for the second time they used the month of July to build 1967 cars the first would be July in 1966 first month of production for the 67 model year so 21G would have been built in 1966.
