What brand black paint should be used on a 68 GT S Code San Jose built firewall and inner fender/radiator shell area?

No specific brand - just a correct range of gloss. Most painters have their favorite way of getting the right look.

Some of the shops locally like to use "hot Rod Black" while others like the SEMS "Trim Black"

Non-rattle can PPG DP90 with the catalyst and correct reducer (to seal the primer) works well. Charles and I tend to use this the most.

I have used everything from straight chassis enamel reduced with thinner to a lacquer based product. I feel the SEMS trim black in the quart can looks very close to the original but I like the durability of a urethane product. I use STANDOX rally black. It looks correct and outstanding durability. The product is mixed 3:1 with hardener and very easy to spray. The product can also be mixed with a gloss black to get a more shiny look used on other parts of the car like brackets, etc..
