Adjusting sleeves are a non heat treated steel which is a lighter shade of smooth finish shiner steel compared to the tie rod finish. The clamps on the other hand are heat treated spring like steel and are typically darker shade because of the difference in materials and how they are finished.

Some examples (for criticism).
Pic 1: From L to R (the two on the left are regular LH/RH V8 sleeve assemblies (C1MM-3310-A) and also RH power steering, the one on the right is a 64-66 V8 power steering (C2VY-3310-A):
The yellow arrows: round shaft on standard bolt (Ford 304797-S2): raised rib on clamp (C1MM-3287-A) for keying on "raised dot" on sleeve; the locking nut is 373036-S2.
Power steering sleeve assy, C2VY-310-A (for LH V8 power steering only, it's part of the picture): square hole on clamp (P/N unk); square bolt 376179-S2; locking nut 373036-S2 (note red nylon lock);
Pic 2: the LH entire assy.

SNIP ...
The clamps on the other hand are heat treated spring like steel and are typically darker shade because of the difference in materials and how they are finished.

Can we surmise that this applies to other years as well?
Hope so since I just did mine a bit darker than the sleeves, but lighter than the tie rods ...

I'm inclined to agree with you as the clamps were hot stamped formed then quenched in oil to cool.

Add pic of parts currently in Boeshield without being wiped off.

Yes on the sleeve and clamp finish in your picture. FYI I would go back and redo the leaf spring snubber perch because it is a little light IMO. I would like to see it about the same shade as the tie rod end .

I was wondering about that.
It's raw cast iron. I wondered about the finish so I just left it raw.

Oh boy -- more Boeshield removal!
