65 Fastback End Trim
« on: November 07, 2010, 10:09:46 AM »
Does anyone know when they stopped putting these on the car?  I haven't seen another fastback with them and was curious.

Would most likely be something phased out early in production.

What's up with the plastic door lock knobs?  ;)

I may have missed it, but what was your car's scheduled build date? I had a Sept. '64 fastback. It too used the separate end caps for the trim. This would also be consistent with Charles' post in regards to early production cars.

Build date of 10/29/64.  I like the plastic ones than the chrome ones but I have a set for when I go to a MCA show  ;)

Been a long time since I owned it, but had an early 65 fstbk late Sept.64, Dearborn and it had
plastic door lock knobs. It was the same green interior as pictured but don't remember if it
had the molding separate ends.

The plastic knobs were phased out of production around June of '64.

Interesting

Double checked my pictures and up dated my response

The highest VINed San Jose example I have with the two piece trim is 5R09T159001 (approx Nov 19th)  The lowest one piece is 5R09C158472 (approx Nov 18th)

Bring this up from the dead.

My 10/2/64 scheduled build date '65 Fastback had the end caps - had because they were some of the many things missing from the car.  I have the long pieces which are different from the later metal trim pieces I have. Having no repo available, I'll have to use the later trim pieces.

I had a half-a-fastback with VIN 5R09A150(?) and it also had the end caps - which I gave away like an idiot.  I don't know its schedule build date since it was missing its door.

I had a December '64 schedule build fastback  and it had the full trim no end caps.  I think it's VIN started as 5R09T169.
