68 Dearborn Safety Wire
« on: September 13, 2009, 06:16:43 PM »
May '68 dearborn car: Is this common routing of the safty wire used for the brake caliper bolts, or should one wire run from bolt to bolt? [doesn't look to be changed, but after 40 years??]

Have always seen original ones with an individual wire for each bolt.

Here is another example - this one from a 69 San Jose car

Another example shows the way the wire was wrapped  unique to big suspension 69/70  Shelby's and Boss cars.  The twice around the spindle seems to be a identification indicator. Just to be clear this was done BESIDES the seperate safty wire in the bolts. Bob

Been over ten years since this thread was last posted to but ran across some pictures (posted in another thread) that I thought would help here. Was going through the safety wire pictures looking for ones to use for another thread

Hope these helps

Believe these are 68 though off the car so can't be certain of which plant they were done at
