1. Front Fenders
Should the backside of fenders be finished in red oxide? Underneath the sound deadner on my originals i did find red oxide. I don't believe they were topcoated with the candyapple red.
The fenders were delivered in red oxide and during the paint process would receive a little or allot of overspray from the process. Allot to a very nice coat was applied to those surfaces directly behind the exterior surfaces. So as you look at the wheelwell opening (for example) those surfaces directly behind (the bottom surface of the fender ) would receive a nice coat of paint, This could be more concentrated towards the center (since the gun would have been closer at that point) than further out towards the ends. Same goes for the area on the back side of where the head light bucket would attach. Since it faces the wheel well opening is normally got a nice coat of paint. So just look at it logically and where the majority of the heavier overspray goes will become apparent
2. Stone Deflector (Front Bumper)
Similar to item 1, except the backside of my original was all surface rust.
Since there is little reason on this piece to apply any paint at even a 90 degree angle of the bottom these panels often little more than a dusting of exterior color over the red oxide primer sealer
3. Front Valance
Should the backside of the valance be red oxide, red oxide with a little topcoat overspray, or fully topcoated? My original is long gone...
Like the fenders - light overspray to not much at all except where the paint was applied at an angle. On the front valance this would be at the ends where the painter would be painting the surfaces that would attach to the fender or the paint that would have gone through the areas where the turn indicator would mount
4. Rear Valance
Based on what i've read, it seems the backside should be red oxide with a minor amount of topcoat overspray since it was painted somewhat hanging on the car. Can anyone verify?
Red oxide with very light dusting to nothing along the top edge except for the ends where more would have entered during the paint process. On your car all of the mounting screws would have been paint
-For the following parts, I'm guessing they are "slop gray". Most of the following items I've seen finished in a shade of black, but on a few occasions i've seen them a gray tone or I haven't found any direct mention of these items.
-I had a gray mixed to spray these parts and will add black to the mixed gray paint to alter the shade from part to part...

2. Front Valance Support Bracket
(about 8" long and attaches on the bottom hole to the bumper bracket in the wheel well).

4. Grill Support Brace
(D-shaped bracket)
Hood latch support bracket - Yes - slop gray for your year and plant
5. Front Bumper to Valance Bracket (small ~2" flattened z shape)
Don't believe so
6. Front Bumper Arm
(smaller long tubular bracket that mounts to the outside of the large bumper bracket)
Yes - slop gray for your year and plant
7. Lower Radiator Saddle Mounts
Semi-gloss black
Also painted slop gray (that year and plant) was the battery box/tray, the front coil spring cover and shock tower supports
