Carburetor Stud Finish For 65-66 Shelby GT350 -
« on: March 01, 2019, 12:42:40 PM »
A friend asked me a Shelby Carburetor (non-Hertz) question via e-mail. What is the finish of the stud used to hold the air cleaner? As this was a Holly Carburetor, there is little information in the MPC about this type carb.

I promise to be politically correct in all my posts to keep the BBBB from vociferating.

Thought I could find out something on this fairly quickly... this is not definitive to assembly line at Shelby but found that Cobranda has one out on eBay for sale right now and it looks to be S36/Zinc Dichromate in the package.

65/66 GT350 were zinc silver from Ford /SA back in the day from what I have seen and vintage photos. Modern re issue carbs may be different.

Makes we wonder about 67 GT350, too.
Mine has just a threaded stud with no un-threaded area. Hacksaw marks visible. No doubt incorrect.

This one is inferred to work, although unknown if concours:
