Opinion on Cobra Medallion placement
« on: February 22, 2019, 02:43:35 PM »
I was thinking of attaching (3M tape, no holes) the over the counter Cobra medallions on my front fenders.  I know there is technically no right or wrong answer here, but I’d love to hear everyone’s opinion as to whether it should be on the top or the bottom of the 289 badge.

Sincerely,

It would probably look best inside of the glove compartment. Don't ruin the looks of your car by putting on this badge.

Have them replace your 289 emblem, otherwise they make your front fenders too busy; or the rear quarter; or the tail light panel where the shelbys had a GT350 emblem.

Agree with the too busy look on the front fender though that is where I've seen some applied before.

As mentioned the taillight panel is a though - along with the glove box door. If you didn't have a GT I think I would consider making a grill medallion out of one of them

Not sure how it would look on the console

One in the grill, one on the taillight panel.

Grill use is standard for car club emblems. To keeps things cleaner replace the pony emblem with this one.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.  I was copying another GT (but this was a K code) that recently sold.  I think it looks sharp.

This is, of course, a factory option.

Because this is the Concours Forum I'd have to ask how/where was this emblem installed at the factory? Did this particular car have this emblem when it was new?  Of course it's your car--do what you want, but personally I think it looks too cluttered to have it placed where it probably never was.

Everyone has an opinion.  Mine is that it does not look good on the front fender.  I bet the Ford Design Office would have cringed at the suggestion. The only place I would consider would be the grille as a grille medallion similar to MCA medallion awards. However I would leave it off the car and put it on display on a bookshelf or on a wall where the car is parked on the garage.

It was never a factory-installed item.

If I had to make a choice of above or below the 289 emblem, I would say below.  Personally, I'm not a fan of the emblem being installed at all, but just my opinion.
