They were all the same.  Ultra-rare set used on 427 engines, including Cobras.  Have a couple other sets, one is Radio Resistance with blue coloring.

So do the different colors have different part numbers on the boxes that correspond to the colors?

No

Believe Charles is just reporting that the side of the printing with colors (non-white) can be different but he's found sets to be all the same two colors (white and the other color) in the ones he's seen.  And that it applies to not just 289's.  No difference in markings on the box or in the part number

Interesting.  But wait, Charles said that the 427 set of SX wires had re-orange on both sides?

BTW, Mannel's table identifies the only blue lettering set as having part# C2OZ-12259-A, fiberglass core, 62 vintage before the stars appeared.  Yellow lettering was also fiberglass with a C3OZ B or C part number, also without stars.   C3OZ E had orange.  Then after that, supposedly all were white with stars except for the later SX wires (white but did not have stars).

That may be the fact on his wires but I don't see that comment. Have a service replacement set of SX out in the garage also not sure what colors the printing is on those are

Don't think the color has to do with application but instead just the roll of wire they (the assembler) was working off of at the time and since all being made that moment likely all got in the same set and box that is why they match.  Just my thought currently given what we see

Sounds like those are service replacements also so not sure how they relate to assembly line examples as shown in the beginning of this thread.  Bob may have included observations rather than suggesting that they were always the same within those service replacements

Jeff, I was referring to Charles comment above.   Bob has a pretty plausible explanation for the colors in his narrative at the beginning of Appendix D, but his source for associating colors to part numbers is unknown.

Ford rarely wasted anything, so it wouldn't be a surprise if sets like those used on the line were eventually put into service parts boxes and sold with a corresponding service part number.   I guess the only way to determine that is to compare a service replacement that is near identical to the one's installed on a survivor car or period pictures of an original car.
