64.5 P/S hose availability
« on: January 29, 2019, 02:35:28 PM »
I have struck out twice (VCM and NAPA) trying to get replacement hoses for this D code, Eaton pump, A/C remote reservoir PS system.
Pressure side- each have come in lacking the quick 90 degree bend at the control valve end. (original on right both pix).

Checked hose NAPA for 64 Falcon with 260 just to see if we got a different part number - we did but the pix representation was not close at all either.

Can someone recommend a source or fabricator?
I am willing to run the original return side hose if I have to

There are usually some NOS ones on ebay.

Thanks. The control valve end looks nothing like the one I took off.
I will have to check what is causing my car to prefer that quick 90 turn at the control valve.

Check the one removed for any Ford engineering numbers stamped into the ends.

Inspected the pressure hose that came off the car and saw no Fomoco numbers etched to the fittings. Perhaps number was printed to the large or small diameter hose but years of oily service would have wiped that off.
So perhaps the PO (Dad) did replace them at some point. Later I will dive into the service records.
OO was Parts Manager at a Wayne NJ Ford dealer - no way he would have stuck on some NAPA repop.

I have fit the VCM sourced Pressure hose. Not crazy about the lack of parallel to the return hose where they will be clamped, but this will get me on the road.

Do you have a pic of how it looks? I can take a pic of my setup and compare. I don’t seem to have any issues

In response to 2 open questions:
1. I found no Ford markings on either pressure or the return hose. If imprinted on the rubber, I am sure this disappeared. So they may be replacements although the OO was a Parts Manager at a FLM dealership, and my father's detailed records did not show any.
2. re-installed new Pressure, 'original' return hose (repops have not had long enough hose to reach the remote reservoir). Original clamp reinstalled.

One recommended detail... the control valve should have a grease plug on the bottom after it has bee greased.
