Could the valves be partially stuck open due to this crappy gas we have now? Not allowing much compression? I have had napa caps and rotors that were bad out of the box, arced inside cap producing weak spark. just some thoughts.

how old is the fuel in the tank?  i once had a tractor that exhibited the same symptoms. drained the fuel. it would not even light with a match. replaced with fresh & it started promptly.

Have you tried switching the coil wire (from coil to distributor cap) yet?

Your best bet right here.   Pour a little fresh  gas down the carb to see if it 'lights'.

Murphy's law....it's the last thing to check....sort of....after replacing plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap and rotor, new points and condenser, I finally tried removing the points and condenser and putting electronic ignition in(the type that uses the stock coil but replaces the condensor and points.  It started right up.  To me, that doesn't makes sense, since the points seemed to create a good spark.  After all this, I really don't care why....just glad it's solved.  Hope this helps someone else who has a similar problem.  Again, I don't understand why replacing the properly gapped points solved the problem...but it did.

Thanks again for the suggestions...

It is possible that your condenser was bad.  I don't believe there should be a "strong spark" at the points.   In fact the condenser is meant to suppress point arching.  The points are on the primary side of the coil which is the low voltage side.

At any rate, glad you got it going with the electronic points setup.
Kurt.
