1968 2V Intake Manifold
« on: October 27, 2010, 11:17:18 AM »
Dug my original intake out and looked over it and saw something odd. I don't have a photo but there is a silver looking round piece in the side of the neck area, still on the cast iron part. I'm not sure if this is original, it looks like some type of repair maybe.... an attempt to get inside the thermostat area without taking the thermostat housing off and this silver round piece was put back in place. Anybody ever seen this type thing?

Post is no good without pictures!!

I assume this is the cast iron intake you are describing and not the thermostat housing. What you describe sounds odd. Is the plug (silver round piece) screw in?

I'll have to look again but I think it is screwed in. Just behind the filler neck area in the cast iron section. Silver piece is about the diameter of a dime.

Had thoughts of putting the 2V back on but the 2100 needs a major rebuild.
