1970 bolt in glass qtr window trim weatherstrip.
« on: December 16, 2018, 04:48:43 PM »
I am converting my 69 Coupe glue in glass to the 1970 bolt in style & I need some help. I am trying to replace the weatherstrip in the trim that is on the front of the rear quarter glass that seals to the door window. The replacement w/s part #- D1ZZ-6530147-O. I can not figure out how to remove the old w/s without damaging the the stainless steel trim pieces

After a long time setting and then recently moving my glass around, both of mine broke at the welds. Bought Repros from NPD. Now I need to carefully remove the smaller part on the glass. Going to start with a plastic pry and use as a chisel to see if I can tap them off. If not I will have to go to something more solid like a real punch/chisel. I'll be using my plastic ended hammer as well.
Accurate looking but not a Concours Restoration/build. See my build photo gallery at 69GT350 Hertz Build

Remove the Phillips head screw. Use a vise and clamp part of the rubber, pull on the moulding, It just slides out. Some can be kind of stuck, but I have always been able to get them to separate. Maybe a little twisting while pulling.

Thanks, I will give that a try.

Update; I tried what you suggested & some twisting & prying I got the weatherstrip out of the trim piece, of course the second one came out very easy. Thanks again for your suggestion.
