Jack instructions decal for Dec. 65’ Metuchen built
« on: December 02, 2018, 09:43:42 PM »
I have two trunk jacking instruction decals on hand but I am not sure which is correct for my build. The car in question is a early Dec. 1965 Metuchen build. One of my decal's parts number starts with C5Z the other starts with C6Z. Can anyone tell me which is correct?

Can you see a difference in the decals?

It looks like only the part number is different. One repro is very old, stained/aged look.  I'll post pics tonight for reference.

Charles, here is a picture of the two jacking instruction decals that I have. The one on the bottom is the C6Z that is a little aged looking and is a slightly larger decal than the C5Z example above it. Not sure which one of these would be correct for my December 65’ Metuchen  built car?

Oldest example I could find of the C6ZB version (the designs are different) is 6T198xxx

Thanks Charles. My car is 6T164xxx so I guess I should go with the C5Z decal?? What would your opinion be on this?

I couldn't say for sure at this point, would hold off until more examples can be found.

Thanks for posting a side by side comparison of a couple of reproductions.

Did find another version also but don't believe it applies, for the moment, to the discussion here. Going to add it to the possible running 65 changes

Might just be that the C5 reproduction was drawn incorrectly and different from originals. Possibly a carry over from the early reproduction days and the company just borrowed the art work from the C6 version to save time since close was better than nothing with some of the reproducers.  Asked one of the only ones making stuff back then one day, why they sold things that were not original or incorrect. His response was "Because people bought them." :(  Guy was a really, really nice guy and friend but the business side of him apparently had a different standard

Looked through my pictures and came up with one example that may help.

Difficult to read the VIN but it appears that it might be in your cars general time period and had the C6 version of the sticker attached to the trunk lid

Do have another from 6T1488xx but its just about impossible to make out but may also be a C6. Depends on if the details are lines, shadows or wrinkles

Hope this helps

Good news & bad news. It’s a C6 but the rest of the part # is different from repos shown. Also note the word END above FILLER which is on the left in the repop versions.

Thanks Sglbbs. Yep, the END over FILLER is a dead give away of a REAL Ford decal.

sglbbs, so with your car being an October build, mine being an early December build, (which BTW just had a birthday yesterday ;D ), I'm guessing I should go with the C6 style as your decal at least shows the "top view" of the tire mounted where the C5 does not. That is a good piece of info for me. Thank you.

Looks like the 17093-B is when they added the top view. For what it’s worth, that C6 repo has been around for at least 30 years. Surprised nobody has scanned an original and made a better version yet
