Assembly line headlight bulbs - 66 San Jose?
« on: November 11, 2018, 02:23:50 PM »
Hey all,

Does anyone know what headlight bulbs they were installing in San Jose during 1966 production, specifically around February build dates... my car's build is February 10th 1966 San Jose.

Were they acid etched, molded, Tungsol, Westinghouse, General Electric, Wagner???

No idea and would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks,

Jason

Tung Sol or GE would be the likely suspects . If Westinghouse (molded glass) was used it was very seldom compared to the other two brands. I personally have not seen a Westinghouse bulb used at SJ given the cars and junkyards I have observed. Wagner isn't even a consideration given it evolved from another mfg. much later.

Thanks for the speedy response Bob. Was the Tung Sol and GE both etched, or molded, again, have no information on this subject and tried searching was unable to locate this specific info.

Appreciate it.

Jason, The Westinghouse was the only molded Ford trademark of the three . The TS marked and GE marked had acid etched Ford trademarks.

Agree that the etched MADE FOR FoMoCo were much more likely used have found many more of the Tung Sol brand over the years than others on 64-66 San Jose cars. Difficult to find original headlights on early Mustangs from San Jose especially in Calif since the cars got used allot more (driven more since the weather, in general allowed it) so headlights were replaced most of the time. At yards we use to seek out the single (one each side) headlighted US Mail carrier vehicles since they were rarely driven at night ;)
