Topic: 68 s-code p/s index bracket

I have a power steering hose index bracket that came on a HBA-BF ,    7-L-13  power steering pump.  was said to be from an S-code mustang(cannot verify).   it  looks like it will put pressure hose at correct angle.

is mine just a variation of BB index bracket or ?        mine shown here

I am skeptical 68 Mustangs used a bracket . I have seen many survivor 68 GT500's and KR's without. I don't know about 390 however I would double check to confirm. The 69 used the bracket with the with the fingers. Mansfield Mustang sells the 69 Bracket with the fingers .http://mansfieldmustang.com/01-26.jpg

Definitely two versions. Supplier? Supplier specific to factory?
Small block versions of the 1968 power steering indexing bracket. Similar difference in the forming to the example above.

The part number for that bracket is C8OZ-3C511-B.  Can also be found on 1968 200cu 6 cylinder Mustang and B / C body midsized Ford / Mercury.

IMHO Likely different suppliers and yes likely one was more predominate over the other (if at all used) based on plant like we see on many other parts.

Charles ,I am not sure if the index was used on regular Mustang or not in 68 but the the index is for the upper pressure hose and not the lower return hose that is associated with the PS cooler used on the Shelby's . It would not seem that the return line has anything to do with the use of the index or  not.  If I have missed something let me know . Just my point of view.

To the OP request.

Yes it appears they used an index bracket on 390 engines with PS. Don't have a clear picture of the bracket off of a car nor a nice shot of the rear of a correct pump off the car to show the details and the complete shape but do have pictures of 68 S codes with PS and the indexing bracket.

Guess we could check the MPC it might have it identified by a part number but that won't help much in this case.

Jeff, your examples are not relevant to the post that Charles made or that I was commenting on. 68 GT350 did not use the same PS hose as a regular Mustang like your examples show.

Was not responding to that post of Charles nor your follow up responses or the Shelby specific details:) But instead to two of your posts where you wrote.

Yes the problem/issues of getting off thread. Might try and split off the small block but since the OP appears to have posted (if I understand correctly) a SB bracket it might be woven too tight to untangle

Thank you for commenting. My whole point was to show visual examples of the variations of the fork end, for the high pressure line.
