Topic: 1966 burgundy convertible with standard black bucket interior

Would the metal area of the doors be painted burgundy to match the exterior, or black to match the door panels?.....same question applies to the metal dashboard.

Exterior color paint never used in the interior.  Black, 26 interior would be all black.  Paint would be satin/low gloss.

If your repainting your car make sure that you don't follow the weatherstrip location all the way around the door edge.  There are threads and examples that can help you with what the detail looked like depending on year and assembly plant

Interior color was added first (before exterior color) to the door surface, dash and A pillars then masked off to protect them from the exterior color application

Yes, I don't know whoever started this "crazy" trend years ago of painting the dash and doors the same color as the exterior of the car but it has mutated like a virus to classic mustangs all over the place.   It's quite annoying....and ruining classic mustangs everywhere...!!!!  It's almost as bad as the phony Aluminum Wheel Well Aftermarket trim that someone came up with 10 years ago in the aftermarket...Every car flipper in the world thinks that this aftermarket wheel well trim looks great on every '64 1/2 to
'66 classic mustang they sell.  It's absolutely nuts..
