1964.5 Frame Cut-Out for Tire? Is this correct?

The frame of my 1964.5 Convertible has a cut-out per the pics attached. Is this correct? Is this for tire clearance?

yep. you have discovered another early car anomaly.....keep digging there are more.

It's not an "Early Car Anomaly".... My Late production '65 and my '66 both have the same identical "Cut-Outs"....

The "Cut-Outs" are for the Brakes hoses.....so that the Brake Hoses don't get crushed by the Tire against the Uni-Body Frame...

I believe that "Really Early" cars don't have the cut-outs.... Like Dearborn Mustang#1  VIN# 100001 ..... No Cut-outs on that car...

After looking at other examples a car in the 5F14xxxx period IMHO yes it's correct. And would be present on both sides

Earliest car I have (lowest VIN) with this detail that I have pictures of would be 5F100037

Great info.   I did'nt realize that they had even started that early with the "Cut-Outs"....even in Pre-Production.... It looks like someone realized the Possible issue real early!

I don't know about labeling 5F100037 as "pre-production" since they were producing the cars  ::)  I sort of save that term for the pilot plant cars :)  But that's what I found but would love to see others from the first couple of days of production to back up the finding as always
