Throttle Linkage Modification?

I hope this is not too off topic but I have seen two kick downs like this now. It looks as if a part that points down on the horizontal section of the rod has been cut off. Is this correct and if so was it a factory practice or a previous owners handiwork?

Seen that on cars guys converted to manual transmissions. Kick down's not going to work with it that way. Guess its easier than finding another originally from a manual car but just looks half a**

Have not seen this on an original automatic or manual 66

Looks like the 66-up accelerator linkage.  This topic is concerning 65's.

Sorry but I should have stated that my original question is for a Oct 64 SJ with C4.
So would this be the correct one then?

Yes, looks like the right one, although the upper shaft appears bent.

Reply #22 before I started labeling each picture for this very purpose :(

Oct 64 San Jose car again ;) Biggest picture in the post - about half way through labeled some like "middle of firewall"
