Interested to see what the 67 MPC and later year MPCs say. Also what z-bar is called out for the B302s throughout the years as well as for the hipos? Brian

The 67 MPC listing for 7515, assuming that is what you are asking for since the 7528 picture was attached in reply #4, is attached.


The 7528 is called "bar - clutch release equalizer".  The 7515 is a "lever assembly - clutch release".  I suspect that the description never (ok, perhaps rarely is safer) changes.  The 65-72 MPC uses these same terms, and so does the 1965 single year version, so I think that answers one of your questions.

Thanks for that pic. It shows the issues with which we have been dealing.

The 7528 Z-bar and the 7515 Lever are part of a system of parts that should not intermixed.
In the real world they are, which leads to even more issues with this already troublesome system. Worse yet, the authoritative parts system is not helping here as can be shown in this 72 MPC snip and comparing that to yours. I own the CD version which I bought a decade or more ago.

Brian, that is an accurate statement.  I've seen several cases where the 67 MPC was lacking in details, and 68 got it right.   This is one reason why the MPC is a good or great resource most of the time, but not the ultimate resource in all cases.

67350#1242 in post #2 showed a picture of what the we now think is the C7ZZ-7528-H Z bar and (I think) is correct for a 67 HiPo.

I've had others in my circle of Shelby owners to show me pictures of their Z bars. This part is very difficult to get at so the pictures can only show various parts of the Z bar. Of the pics I do have they have this in common:

The top of the Z bar is curved and is a large quarter circle that goes well over the steering column.

The frame side of the 67 Z bar where it meets the interior push rod hole is well beyond the frame side of the Z bar's tube. The other HiPo Z bars have the push rod hole inside or even with the dimensions of the frame side of the Z bar tube. See pic of 67, 66, 65 and std 289 Z bars.

The lower section of the Z bar (the clutch push-rod side) has a jog that brings that lower bar very close to the block. The 390 fork makes the angle to the Z bar too extreme.

I have pics of a SAAC43 survivor with the top Z bar curve as noted above. Besides the Z bar of a car I've owned for 35 years (which doesn't preclude an earlier replacement) I now have pics of at least 2 other 67 Shelbys at various angle that also have the top left bar. Brian also has this same Z bar.

This bar is not sold nor commonly reproduced.

The search is now on for what the assembly line fork should be.
