69 Cowl and lower windshield trim installation

It's been quite a while since I removed the lower trim and cowl.  I am at the point of installation now.  Wife and I installed the windshield today and installed the upper and side trim pieces but cannot figure the lower section out.  From what I can tell the cowl tucks under the trim and if so how does the trim clips get tightened down if the cowl gets tucked under the trim.  Looks like if I tighten the clips down then the cowl will not get tucked under without a lot of heavy scratches. Also, I will need to locate of make a piece of foam trim to attach to the lower windshield for the cowl to rest on.  Correct?

They did put a 1/4" square foam at the bottom of the glass.  The trim is tightened down to the cowl first.  I like to use an old 5/8 water hose or the like and slip about a four inch hose over the two wiper blade studs, slip the hoses into the cowl wiper holes and guide it down until the cowl has passed over the two mounts, if you don't do this you can easily chip the paint here, learned this the hard way years ago.  It is a tight fit to slip cowl under the molding, but you can do it. having help is a big plus.  Make sure you have the cowl blocks in place first.  I hope that helps! good idea on hose over wiper pivots to prevent paint chips armond. Also dont forget the 2 cowl  end rubbers to fenders.

I don't know what the end rubber to fenders pieces are.  Do not know about them.       Anyone have pictures of them.

About an inch long J shaped rubber c9zz hooks on rear fender lip & helps keep cowl from rattling & can be seen when installed between rear fender & cowl panel. This rubber bumper has been repoed & scott H. (muscle car reseach) makes the foam pad as well as other good parts.

Does anyone know when the rubber pads were introduced (late 69?)? Were they used with the foam pads or replaced them?

Not sure of their introduction since so very few original cars still retain them. IMHO they were not designed nor used to replace the foam blocks

My 1970 Mach1 - Dearborn built Sept 4, 1969 had the original fender to cowl rubber bumpers C9ZZ-16758-A but no foam blocks, but did have the foam strip along the bottom of the windshield when I disassembled it.

My 69 Sportsroof built in Dearborn on October 31, 1968 had the 2 cushion pads under the cowl.  Mark
