Wire Harness Routing 1968 San Jose S-Code
« on: May 18, 2018, 08:31:50 PM »
Sorry if this is already answered on the site.  I couldn’t find it if it is.

I’m looking for a couple of pictures for the wiring harness as it routes around the voltage regulator and through the radiator support to the starter solenoid.  My car wasn’t even close due to an aftermarket radiator install by the PO.  Looking at the assembly manual I’m having a hard time matching it up.  Appreciate any assistance you can provide.  Thanks.

Car is a 4 speed 390 without AC but I’m thinking all he cars probably had the same routing.

All cars are very similar, the wiring comes from the firewall down the left side, through a round hole in the rad support, across the front, bottom of the radiator, back in a hole, at the right front apron, under the battery tray and to the solenoid

Tracking.  Is the voltage regulator connection facing toward the radiator?  This car has it on top which I've seen before but think it's wrong.  Also, all of the connections for lights and horns are in front of the radiator support outside the engine bay correct?  I think if I change the orientation of the voltage regulator, I should have enough slack to connect them this way.

Voltage regulator connector faces the side of the radiator. The harness exits through the left side, goes across the front member, snapped into clips attached to said cross member, enters round hole on right side, through the battery support bracket and runs up through two D clips and to their appropriate connections. Alternator, solenoid.

So the routing should look like the attached photo at the voltage regulator right?  Also, does the detached ground wire in the photo get bolted to the bottom of he voltage regulator or somewhere else?

Is the voltage regulator connection facing toward the radiator?

Did you try the search feature?  Using the words "68 San Jose unrestored pictures" I found the following

And an additional example NOTE: Service replacement voltage regulator so some details/markings do differ from the other two posted above

Also, all of the connections for lights and horns are in front of the radiator support outside the engine bay correct?

Thanks Jeff.  I think I was being to specific with my search terms and didn’t pull those up.  The two photos you posted are perfect!
