22F Autolite Battery
« on: May 06, 2018, 03:36:48 PM »
I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase a NOS 22F Autolite battery last week. I have known that they are shorter in length than the 24F but now I see that they also are shorter in height. It makes for a lot of bolt thread showing when installed, that looks odd since I am use to seeing the 24F. Our unrestored 68 High Country Special came with a 22F and still has the original tray. I have been trying to make this car as close to original as I can so getting the 22F was great. I still need a fan belt, a upper radiator hose, heater hoses and a negative battery cable but it is getting there. Here are some pictures.

If he adds acid it will be .  ;) It is a NOS Battery. It is what they call dry charged. Unfortunately once the acid is added the life cycle starts. I am not sure if you could slow the process much by draining the acid back out it .

No it will not be operational, it will be only for show. I am still hoping I can find a way to produce a empty case or at least a 22F topper. So many of our Mustangs used the 22F it too bad there is nothing out there for them.
