67 Shelby lower scoop fitment

I couldn't find any 'before' pictures of my lower scoop fitment.

During a test fit the lower scoop(s) hits the metal 'center bar' that divides the upper and lower cutouts. This causes the lower part of the scoop to have about a 3/16ths gap at the bottom. If I were to hammer and dolly the center bar I could get the fit to improve.

Do you have any pics of the scoop and what the general fit is supposed to be?

My body guy will not allow any silicone in the shop. What does everyone else use in the 'glass to body gaps?

And yes. This does mean I am getting closer to actually painting this thing. My painter is amused by all the sticky notes I put on parts as to 'process'.

Just the first half dozen or so I ran across - Just happened the most were dark blue













Remember there is a small bead of sealer that is applied between the two surfaces but its not there to fill in big gaps or flaws in the scoop

The scoops are not fitted to the car when painted so your painter will not be painting over silicone. The scoops were added at SA. you can add the silicone later. I tape both sides of the seam then lay a bead down. I then go over it wiping excess with a finger. I pull the tape off before the silicone sets up . No mess that way. I don't know another way that is better then the correct way. In this case anyway.

On Jeff's pics of the white car I definitely see dark gray sealer. The blue one looks dark gray too.

 I gather the front nose and end caps are done this same way too.

OK, off to find that color.

No dark gray sealer. It is clear silicone(RTV in the documents). Clear silicone sometimes darkens when exposed to dirt and dust with age. The scoops ,nose and end caps get the clear silicone.
