A/C Question
« on: May 03, 2018, 09:45:19 PM »
Was factory A/C an option on a 69 428CJ R Code, 4 Speed car? I've been sent some preliminary pictures of a car I'm going to check out this weekend that has what looks like factory air in the pictures. I was looking at the MCA Judging rules and it states under A/C that a 69 428CJ with 4 speed: A/C not available. BTW, the carb is not under the air cleaner. It was removd several years ago and sent off for rebuilding. The owner passed and no one knows where the carb is.

It looks a little different than my original AC, but I know there were a few companies making them for for.  Some of the brackets look correct.

You can easily double check over on the CJ Registry site but I believe it was confirmed using Fords records that there are not suppose to be any built. Had a mistake car that would have been the one but the order appears to have been changed during the build process.

Guessing you have already gotten a Marti report on the car and the current owner has not either. Some past owners may have done a nice job of installing a factory unit and parts but they often skip a step or thing in the process. Just adds to the work during the investigation

Since PO's have been changing a number of things in that engine compartment you might suspect many of the details and parts you see
