65 info needed San Jose build (not 64.5)

I'm looking at a coupe vin 5R07C150xxx. It's for sale locally thru a friend. I did a little research on the differences from the 64.5 tp 65.

Generator, no
Folded hood edge, no
Oil wicked distributor, no
Louvered radiator support, no
Clip on door handles, yes
Carpeted rocker panel, yes
Colored lock knobs, yes
Seat belt eye bolt, no
Vent knob under dash, yes
Tail light wiring pig tails, no
Lug wrench, unknown
Spare hold down bolt, carriage type, yes
Long speedo, yes
Large horns, no
Brake switch on master cylinder, no
Wheel covers, unknown
Easton power steering pump, yes
Cast iron water pump pulley, no
Painted hood hinges, unknown
Phillips head hood bumpers, yes
Large voltage regulator, no
Door tag, missing

Are there any other sources to read up on more details? Clearly the vin falls within the 64.5 range as the first 50,000 cars. Looks like the engine has been replaced. No tags on the carb. Intake is C6. That's about all I know so far. Body is decent, some small,dents and a 2" rust spot on the drivers door. Has not been started in 9 years. Any idea on a value. Thanks for any input.

Any pictures of what the door tag should look like?

VIN clearly indicates that this is a 1965 (not 64.5) model.  The change-over from 64.5 to 65 was at 125000

San Jose didn't start building Mustangs until sometime in July '64, while Dearborn had been building them since March '64.  Each assembly plant used their own unit numbers, they weren't shared.  This is why unit number 150xxx would fall during 64.5 production at Dearborn, but not at San Jose.

I would say it's build date is probably around mid to late of October 64. Mine is 152xxx and is 29K

Does the 65 door tag look similar to the 67-69 door tags?

I don’t think it will take much to get it running. Is $5000. A good price?

Non original 289, auto and flat paint. Some pieces are present for the console.

It's more complicated than that. There's this little thing called "running changes". That makes it more difficult

Nope. The 65 is different from the 66 as well. You can get a reproduction from Marti Auto http://www.martiauto.com/

I was asking if it was worth buying for $5000 if I can get it running and moving under it’s own power.

Any suggestions on the car's value as is?  A quick glance has a parts list of $1500 and this is if it will start and run as is.

I did some looking around and there is not a whole lot out there between the rust buckets and the $15K plus cars.  Lots for $25-35K.  One of the pricing guides put a running driver at $6900.  This is not that good yet.  Has some dings, some filler, radio is MIA, dash pad loose,  all original glass in good shape.  One rust spot on the door and the gas tank looks rusty.  The passenger floor has been kind of patched with a regular floor panel.

Suggestions on value? Trying to decide if I should pass on it.

I wanted to think it was worth more than $5000. Common sense and the math do not add up.   I think you are on the money.

Consider that a concours example of a 65 C code coupe is probably maxed out around $20-25k.  You can go backwards from there if your goal is concours.
