Might be a good question to start a thread with up in another section of the site rather than an add on discussion to a WANTED ad
Per Jeff's suggestion, starting a new thread here in the Parts section.
The discussion has been about the small block OEM dashpot used in Mustang year models 64-66 and 67.Relevant quotes from the original thread:
Hi,
I'm looking for a working OEM dashpot + bracket (+ nut + screw) Autolite 2100/4100 carburetor.
Car: Nov 66.
Thx.
Ralf
Not sure if I need to have the bracket without spring hole. I believe so, because of the early build of my car.
Later versions do have the hole and the spring, but no clue for what reason.....
hole for spring is a passing gear item NOT used on a 67-down Mustang. It was used on other Ford cars & trucks with Auto Trans in 67.
The question was if there was a hole or no hole on "early" (I assume 64-66) brackets for Mustangs. The application and use is interesting but really does not apply.
Back to the question - is there a different dashpot bracket without an additional hole that was used on 64-66 small block Mustangs?
Jim
Ralf indicated above that he's not sure whether his Dashpot bracket should be with or without the spring hole.
So... I can add: Ralf's car and my car were both built at the San Jose plant on the same day, November 30 1966. My Autolite 2100 carburetor C7DF-V with date stamp 6LC on brass tag has the Dashpot bracket with the spring hole; however, there is no spring present.
