To clarify more Fred Ballard is who the "Fred" reference refers to. Fred is also the one the rebuilds the button top fuelpumps.

That's what I was thinking, but I know of more than one Fred out there.  Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the inspiration! All components look to be reusable.

I used evaporust, a wire wheel for the toughest muck, brake clean and closest-color paint I could find (note: dupli-color is pontiac-blue), then sprayed components with boeshield.

I was referencing the 1966 Mustang Exploded View Illustration Manual by Jim Osborn Reproductions and noticed the following components missing from my rear drum brakes.  Picture shows those items highlighted I am missing. 

Question:  These obviously aren't critical components and nobody noticed I was missing them so do you guys have them on your rear drum brakes?

2092--rubber plug-only of the brakes have been previously serviced.
2A787--no, never seen one.
2028---no
372583-S---yes always there.
i have done countless brake jobs over the years and those are my recollections.

2A787 is the retainer for the parking brake spring washer.  I also noticed I'm missing both my LH and RH side of the parking brake cable levers.  Perhaps the reason my parking brake never worked.

Part 2028 in the picture, I found out, is for 6 cyl only according to NPD.  They call this part the "plate for the brake shoe anchor pin".

I have 2028 on both sides of my 69 Shelby GT350. Goes on before the springs. I'd take a picture but my drums are already on. That way you can't tell if its painted flat or gloss.  :-p  Just kidding. I cleaned it with brake cleaner and stuck it back in.

I will find out since I need a few for various cars I have.

If I feel the need I can spray them goldish. It's not like anyone can see them.

A easy DIY with paint if you don't have access to dyeing/plating them would be the Eastwood zinc gold faux finish system. It consists of a base coat silver spray paint and three translucent green ,red and gold spray paints . You could get by with just using the translucent gold on that small part. It is already silver after all. I have bought the gold separately before from Eastwood.
