Topic: 1967 C6 Cooler Line Fittings at Transmission

I am in the process of replacing my cooler lines and the set I got from NPD doesn't seem right or, just as likely, I am missing something. From what I can tell in the MPC, it appears the rearward line should  make a 90⁰ bend up to a 90⁰ fitting...line meets the fitting coming up from the bottom.

The set up that was previously on my car had the rearward line going straight into the fitting. It's my understanding this was started sometime in early 68. I can certainly rig something up to make it work, but would prefer to make it right.

Does anyone have a picture of the way the lines should look when hooked up?

Here is the line I took off and the one I was hoping to put on...it may be difficult to see the bends in 2 dimensions.

Bill,there is a special 90 degree brass fitting used . I believe my picture file is too large so I am having trouble loading. After 4 attempts I can't figure out how to reduce it.  I would be glad to send you a picture if you send a email address to me in a personal message. Sorry I couldn't post so others could see.

I should have checked here before ordering my lines several months ago. The '72 MPC shows a much different set up and I went off that. So, now I have a question on the line to engine mounting bracket, as I don't trust what I am seeing in the MPC. Where and how does this attach? It looks like the clip goes on a ground post/stud of the block. Although my set up had the correct 90⁰ fitting, the lines were tie wrapped and just hanging from the fittings.

Don't recall seeing a mount to the engine mount attachment bolt - but will look through my pictures. Took a bunch of pictures of a 67 390 auto car last week. Still haven't resized or labeled them yet

The attached picture (source unknown) may be the service replacement for the fitting shown in the original post, replies 2 and 3. The part number is C9ZZ-7D273-A. It is similar to the one in reply 3.

Think your correct Jim is slightly different in design. That looks like what you can get at the local hardware store currently

My wording is misleading...I think. It's my understanding there is a clip holding the lines to the engine block and I am wondering where this clip mounts (attaches). If I am reading the MPC correctly, it looks like this clip is attached to a grounding stud on the front P/S of the engine block. I would suspect there is a mounting clip somewhere. I wouldn't think the only points securing the line would be at the fittings...but I am wrong more than I am right, so hopefully someone can help.

Here are some of the pictures I took last week. Covers pretty much from radiator to trans though there are some gaps at the very rear where the lines go into the trans due to other things in the way and lighting

................. I wouldn't think the only points securing the line would be at the fittings...but I am wrong more than I am right, so hopefully someone can help.

You would think not but there are a number of examples where they were pretty much suspended much of their length. Sure many of us have dealt with "buzzing" transmission lines.  a quick twist or realignment often fixed the issue - at least for a period of time.

On the 67 FE the lines are connected to the fittings only front and back and not connected to the engine block.  The two lines are typical held together with a small metal clip in two spots . These spots can vary some . From various observation one typical spot is where the lines straighten out after wrapping around the starter and another spot farther forward just before where the lines pass the front of the oil pan .
