Not to get off of the beaten path, but wasn't the 2v 390 very "uncommon"? As alot of folks just assumed to go with the 4v set up? I remember Jon Enyeart saying how "rare" it was to find the 2v carb for that 68' engine??   :o :o  maybe I'm wrong??

If the guy has the original carb I would snag that too.

390-2V engines were pretty common on Fairlane / Galaxie / LTD's in 1967. Y and H code in the VIN.

According to Kevin Marti's "Mustang by the Numbers" book, for 1968, out of the 317,423 Mustangs produced, there were only 733 of the 390 2V produced (all with the C6 Transmission}, and 10,651 with the 390 4V (5800 with the wide ratio 4 speed manual, 4850 with the C6 automatic, and 1 with the C4 automatic).
So, if 0.2% would be considered "uncommon", yes.

Unless that carb is not one of 733 (Mustangs) but one of 10,000 plus (all Ford and Mercury models that had a 390-2V).   Most likely somewhere in between.

If it happened to be from that specific application it would be a nice conversation piece since finding someone that needs one is going to be very difficult and possibly not very valuable either.   Two sides to every coin  ;)

Since we have drifted this far  ;), please let me include the 3254 (a little less than 3% of the total) Mercury Cougars with the X code 390-2V premium fuel engines from 1968 .
The correct Autolite carburetor would have a tag number of C8WF-A.
However, all of the 1968 X codes, whether Mustang and Cougar, used a truck designated intake manifold, with casting number C7TE-9425-G or C8TE-9425-A.
