Based on my experience, you will have a very difficult time reaching someone at TM.

Brant help me with a question on the Drake reproduction TM bars. Do they have the M1 cast into the end of the arms like the TM parts or not?

Bob,

Yes, they do have the correct markings. They are really nice.

They also are constructed of thicker wall tubing than the originals, which is a huge plus.

So you can jack the car up using them if you have the reproductions??

Sorry - bad joke since there are a fair number of original cars where the owners bent theirs trying  ::)

Thanks Brant for sharing the details

originally the front mounting plate was painted bronze then welded on then painted black at shelby plant. would any traces of bronze be visible?

There could be. I believe that the bracket from the TM kit was welded on top of a extra section of bare steel angle . I am not sure if the angle was wlded on the car first and then the TM bracket added or if the assembly was welded together prior to installing on the car. Regardless some was bronze and some bare steel and a lot of welding going on to burn off bronze paint. With that said paint the TM bracket portion bronze and with the welding process in mind . Paint the angle iron portion and welds completely black .Paint the TM bracket portion black where it is welded with no attempt to try and protect any bronze color . I think things will be pretty black. I think given the purpose the intent also was to black out the entire bracket . The bronze color would catch your eye in that area on a otherwise dark underside (reason the pinch weld was painted black  ;) )
