289 vac tree painted? Carb spacer?
« on: August 29, 2010, 08:51:15 PM »
68 Coupe w/289, 2V, C4, AC, PS.

Should the vacuum tree be painted?
It has a brass block with a big bolt plug and a steel piece with more outlets.
Should it all be be painted blue??

Should the carb spacer be painted blue or left natural?

What type of hose goes from the air cleaner to the oil filler cap?
What type of hose goes from the carb spacer to the pcv valve?
I don't see either of these in NPD or MU catalogs.

Thanks a bunch.

Should the vacuum tree be painted?  No
It has a brass block with a big bolt plug and a steel piece with more outlets.
Should it all be be painted blue??  Again No. Bottom is natural brass, top part that you call steel is alumium and is the same gold color as a carburetor

Should the carb spacer be painted blue or left natural?    It would have at least some serious engine color overspray

What type of hose goes from the air cleaner to the oil filler cap?    I don't know what to call it other than breather hose. Similar to heater hose but don't use thatWhat type of hose goes from the carb spacer to the pcv valve?     Its a molded PCV hose. All the big suppliers carry them or NOS ones are on Ebay all the timeI don't see either of these in NPD or MU catalogs.

Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure the top part of my vac tree is steel, I think zinc plated.  Of course mine is corroded after 42yrs.

Attached is a pic.

Roger.

oh that tree. I thought you meant the t stat tree. That tree is the manifold tee. The bottom half (including any rubber caps) are painted engine color. The upper part is natural brass. No teflon tape used. Here is the PCV hose you are looking for,
