Topic: 70 Dearborn (Dec 69 build) fender bolts

I am looking to see if someone with either an original car or well documented, can tell me the bolts that are used on their fenders, Dearborn Dec 3 1969 time zone.  Here a re six bolts I put together, not sure if any of these were used at that time period or not.  Any input appreciated.  Thanks!

Off hand, yes. Fender bolts with those head markings look "appropriate". However, most of the Mustangs I see on the West coast are San Jose built.  The underside of the washer should be smooth, no "teeth".

Yes thanks Jim,  I am just trying to narrow it down closer to when this car was built, hoping someone has one close.   It is for a Boss 9 I am restoring so I am being more neurotic about this one.

Hi,
My Dearborn Boss 302 0F119XXX, October 13, 1969 build date had bolt number five in most fender bolt locations, with a few large washered SEMS thrown in here and there. Hope this helps!

From the picture, types 1, 3, 5 and 6 are grade 5.1, types 2 and 4 are not. Conventional wisdom has indicated the grade 5.1 fender bolts were used by Ford from 1968 on.

Bolt head design #1 (small flags)  & #5 (circle L's) were were the ones I found were used in the 140000-150000 range in 1970 production at Dearborn

On my best example there was a mix on the fender attachment.





On the spring cover/shield attachment I found all #5's

And all appear to be Grade 5.1.

As specified, they should be cad plated. As cad plating is falling out of favor, try a dull zinc finish after bead blasting.

On one of the threads at the Boss site there was a discussion about B9's having different fender bolts than regular production. Reason was the fenders were removed at Kar Kraft and reinstalled. I paid attention to it because in my ignorance I tossed the original bolts out.

Link shows a RSC bolt. There are several threads on the subject. Sent E mails to AMK, they weren't interested in reproducing them. Potential sales would be too small.

The RSC bolts were also used for a short period on non- Boss 9 cars also but not during the period asked about
