Instead 236 B-15, could it be A 14 or 15 as well?
From the information available for 1967 289s (from Mannel book and threads in this forum), suffix A is consistent with level -14 and suffix B is consistent with level -15.
Probably the next step in your tracing process would be to identify your engine block casting number and casting date to confirm whether it's a either a Cleveland or Windsor 289 block. You've indicated that at the time of an engine rebuild, it was fitted with a 4V carburetor and manifold.
