I'll be there, but for my 40th high school reunion in Livonia.  If I have a chance on Sunday, we'll run over and check things out.  Only problem is that I'll be riding in a 1960s Corvette.   :o

Since it is only 15 miles away, I go often.  Even though the official day is this Saturday, us locals know that it starts about 10 to 15 days in advance.  Every evening there is significant action on Woodward.  Even on all of the major cross roads there is a steady increase in classic cars and hot rods.  A Duece Coupe here, a Mustang there, a 53 Chevy pickup, etc. all over the place, even when heading to the grocery store.  Pretty cool.  If you are coming in from out of town, Mustang Alley at 9 Mile and Woodward is a must see.

from www.wxyz.com

friday high 85 deg, 20% chance T-storms

saturday high 86 deg, 40% chance T-storms.

Keep in mind that if you are planning on driving anything (classic or new), Saturday will be a traffic jamb and you will not be happy (especially north bound Woodward from 10 mile to Maple (15 mile)).  I stopped driving Sat nights about 8 years ago - too much stress.  Much better IMHO to park, bring a lawn chair, and watch.  Drive the week prior, including Friday, so you get some air flow through the radiator instead of hot unburned carbon from the car in front of you!  Not to mention that when you are driving you see about 10 different cars around you.  Sitting on the sideline you see thousands in parking lots and on the road.  One man's opinion...

My brother just called from Woodward, he says traffic is "like L.A" and about 50% are classics.  This is 3 days before the official event.
