Rear drum brake anchor pin PLATE
« on: September 20, 2017, 08:44:32 PM »
Spent hours researching this part and still no conclusive answer.  Mustang Unlim and NPD list this as part # 2028.  Ford # c4uz-2028-a.  Description says this part is only for 9" diameter drums.  Does anyone know why they would not work on 10" ? My 10" drums are either missing these or did not come with them.
This video shows them being used during the rebuild:

But I am seeing websites and other videos where people are not even using these plates during their brake rebuilds.   Are they even necessary?  What is the real story?

"brake shoe guide anchor pin" is a only used on 6 cylinder mustangs.  I don't know why.  The 8 cylinder backing plate does not have the necessary boss on the pin.

Simple answer for you Matt1968. Yes, you need them for your 68 390 car. All 68 Mustangs had them and you need them specifically for 10" brakes. 6 Cylinder cars with 9" brakes or Full-Size cars with 11" brakes used a different plate.
