68 390 clutch

Anyone got any photos? 

I have shop manual, FAM, and exploded views.  Looking for photos of the installed items, or a step-by-step anyone may have done while installing theirs. 

Car was apart when I got it and as it looks like a typically tight engine bay/underdash effort (did Ford hire pygmies? I'm amazed they got soem of this stuff in on an assembly line cranking out the number of cars a day they did) 

Figure the more info I have before starting the fewer hours of banged knuckels and &*)!(^&* expletive deleteds as it goes back in...

I put my 390 in with the clutch and bellhousing installed; and then installed the transmission from underneath.  Installing the engine with the transmission is possible; I think most suggest jacking the rear of the car as high as possible and tilting the engine/ transmission as it goes in. 

My wife helped me install the engine and I did not hit the firewall or shock towers...just went slow and easy.  The wife is not the garage type!!!

Make sure you have everything (except maybe the blower motor) on or through the firewall before installing the engine. ie. speedometer cable, windshield washer hoses, etc.

I'm not talking about the pressure plate and disc mounted to the flywheel. 

I'm looking for photos of the Z bar,  equalizer rod, linkages, springs, etc that have to go in after the engine is dropped in...

Thanks a bunch, just the kind of stuff I was looking for.... If anyone else has any others, would appreciate further references...

I'm sooo looking forward to the install.  Been fiddling with brake lines a the distribution block, then adding factory style A/C, all the underdash stuff (with the joyous job of installing the well fitting repro firewall pads) for the past two weeks, and then this...  love all the space and room to move you have on these projects!!  :P

Just a clarifying question on this old post.  I assume but want to verify these photos will also apply to a 67 390. Want to verify spring colors and locations.

Do not copy metal finishes as the OP requested but the upper and lower springs are the light blue.

Mike, couple items since you are going to be showing car in spring. No nut on end of clutch rod. Clutch release lever should be natural, dust shield should be natural, Block plate and edges of bell housing should have engine paint. Is Z bar zinc or natural? (should be natural)

I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Not important to me nor pertanent to this thread...but a detail I have a question about (in Mike's image) is about the exhaust manifold studs with spacers? Is that correct?

And while we are picking on Mike, are those lock washers on bell housing and trans zinc dichromate?  I don't that is correct either.

Dont think so. Looks like they used RH studs on LH. I agree on trans washer finish
