Topic: 1970 Boss 302 carpet

Is there any difference in the carpet for a 1970 Sportsroof and a 1970 Boss 302 with Décor group interior.  The color is Black for both.

Believe originally they were one in the same. Have owned other decor interior body types and that was the way they were.  Would post pictures but in general most owners like to hide them under mats

So, I bought mew carpet for my 70 Boss and the front part ends on the floor pan just below where the raised panel for the seat is. My other 69 fastback has the carpet overlapping under the seat frame. Which is correct? Also, is the toe pad that smaller vinyl piece on the side of the shifter hump? Thanks

Would suggest you try and adjust it as far back as possible (given other edges that still need to be where they need to be) to provide a lip for the rear section to cover

Yes if your reproduction has a pad on the drives side to the right of the  accelerator pedal that is a toe pad and originally your car would not have one. You and order reproduction without the toe pad (you really should not have to ask) but so many cars have reproduction carpet in their car they are replacing owners assume that the pad is original

Just as some additional info, my '70 Cougar (October '69, Dearborn plant) original carpet, the front section also ends right at the front edge of the seat riser.  I've been wondering if it's supposed to be that way or not.

My understanding is the carpet is the same between Cougar and Mustang.

Don't know that you really have many options. Might only be two providers of molded carpet out there selling through the normal outlets. You will need to request one made without the toe pad and once you receive it get it out and inspect it - don't just put in on the shelf for later. Sometimes they will forget or ignore your request  or not line up the carpet in the mold so that the channels do not go straight across but at an angle. Have had to send a few back over the years

Good question. Have not tried with the newer carpets that are available. More recently (over the last decade) have just ordered the carper without the toe pad. I take it that you've already purchased and received your carpet

I did so on my Grande but it was a 20 year old repro carpet and the toe pad was sewn.  A razor blade and in 5 minutes it was out.  It is possible (likely?) that the new repro stuff has a glued on toe pad.  If so, I think you are stuck (see what I did there?  ).

   No ,  like rockhouse I purchased it 20 years ago and I do believe it is sown on . Its in the car at this time don't know if I can do it in the car with a razor blade like suggested or will have to remove it to do it .

Easy - not grommet (that was something borrowed from GM carpet by the early carpet reproducers)  and no switch cap on a 70 Boss
